It's 1720, and Gray's one bad deal away from a hanging, or a very inconvenient crush.
The Golden Age of Piracy is over, thanks to Nassau's Governor Rogers. When it's Gray's turn to face the gallows, they strike a deal with the one person they shouldn't trust: the governor's fiery daughter, Charlotte.

Sneak Peek
Nassau, 1720
The Golden Age of Piracy is coming to a bloody end thanks to the King’s Pardon and Governor Roger’s pirate hunting streak. Stede Bonnet, Edward “Blackbeard” Teach, and Charles Vane have all since hanged at the gallows.
That leaves Nassau crawling with washed-up pirates, sharp-tongued women, and lesbians having existential crises. Dive in and join us!
Gray 24 years old, (they/them)
As if being a pirate wasn’t already tough, good ol’ “Noose Rogers” has made it his personal mission to eliminate piracy once and for all. Gray will do anything to get off this bloody island.
That is, until the Governor’s daughter proposes a deal. Will it cost Gray too much?
Charlotte Age: 21 years old, (she/her)
Miss Rogers has a reputation for destroying any unlucky suitor who crosses her path. However, the looming Spanish threat has made her father more desperate for a decorated navy leader to call his son-in-law.
Will this pirate be her final hope for escape or another arrogant bastard to put in their place?

Behind the scenes
Research by Yen
I got this idea while sick with walking pneumonia (ew!) and I spent my recovery listening to countless hours of pirate content and queerness at sea. Recommendations: Spotify’s “Real Pirates”, “Our Flag Means Death”, etc.
Story + Writing by Yen
I spent two weeks diving into enemies to lovers story beats and finding the most eviscerating thing Charlotte could say. By the end of it, our dining table was covered with letter drafts and my patient partner ate dinner on other surfaces.
Found piece art by Cornelius
Our lovely artist did ALL the found objects you see. That includes drawing hundreds of lines for Gray’s posters and casually learning how to oil paint 18th century portraiture over the weekend.
Stationery by Yen + friends of Cherry Letter Club
We've learned so much about paper weights and the differences in stationery types. It took a small army of friends to print, hand-cut, and package all these letters. We're powered on Porto's Bakery and lots of laughter. We hope you enjoy!!
