Our story, and why we love gay mail

We spent years trying to “make it” as writers and artists, so we could finally tell queer stories on our own terms. Eventually we wondered, did we really need permission to write gay lil stories?

Inspired by indie art mail clubs, Cherry Letter Club turns indie romance stories into serial love letters full of handmade art and immersive extras. We're trying to capture the satisfaction of finding "niche" queer stories in your local bookstore and the fun of live reacting to your favorite show over group chat. Every Cherry Letter is pure queer joy, right in your mailbox.

Real talk, do you generate the art/story with AI?

Fuck no. We hate AI slop, and we built Cherry Letter Club so that we can have more control over the creative process, not less! Every letter is written by a real gay human, every piece of art is made by a real gay human, and every envelope is packed by a real (tired) gay human.

We use AI for the silly things that slow down our creative process:
- Answering hyper-specific questions we later fact-check (What word did they use for... in 1720?)
- Soundboarding business ideas and obvious plot holes (Enemies to lovers beat sheet please?)
- Answering questions about biz logistics (How many stamps for a 1.3 oz Canadian envelope?)

Our letters, found objects, and art rely heavily on free use materials from the Creative Commons Library so we can get an authentic and historical feel, without relying on a stolen art engine.
